Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep - Baby Samuel

Last week Katie and I had the true pleasure of photographing baby Samuel. Debra, Samuel's mom, contacted us directly a couple weeks ago but found us through the NILMDTS website.

Debra found out at 23 weeks that baby Samuel had Trisomy 13, a chromosome disorder, that would not allow him to live outside the womb. She carried him until he was 33 weeks. I would not normally post something like this but Debra said that it was ok. I can't tell you how neat her family is and how special it was to us that we were part of such a private time in their lives. The pictures that I posted were one's that Debra took of Katie shooting and me assisting. I am usually crying the entire time so Katie and I make a great team. We both say that we could never do a NILMDTS shoot without each other!

While pregnant Debra made the most beautiful knitted clothes for Samuel. She learned how to knit during her last pregnany. (Debra lost her sweet Isabel at 36 weeks just two years ago.) I did get to meet her three children that are 12, 10 and 4. You just wonder why this family had to go through something like this not once BUT TWICE! Why..........

In the room with us was her midwife and I can't say enough good things about her, such a beautiful person. She also brought a midwife that was in training, she playing such beautiful soft music on her guitar and sang a couple songs, so peaceful. People always ask Katie and I how we volunteer for NILMDTS and now I can't imagine not being part of such a needed organization! I feel like every shoot I do helps me heal and honor Max and Benjamin.

I know that god brought Debra in my life and I thank him for that. Please pray for her and her family!

Angie,

We were so blessed to have you and Kate come and take such beautiful pictures. I will be posting some of them soon on my blog.

Like I said to you, what you and Kate do, it is a precious thing, almost holy. To gently care and minister to these little ones.

"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

"The King will reply,

'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

Matthew 25: 31-46

We truly thank you,
Debra
